When we left London, it was 100% my intention to retire from coaching swimming. 16 years of sweating on the pool deck on Friday nights from November to March was plenty. Continue reading “Swimming”
Love Notes
Happy belated Valentine’s Day! Gav and I were back from out little trip in time to celebrate here in Yangon. We did the traditional home-made card exchange and I was quite proud of my creation. It referenced how sweaty I am and I thought I was very clever, but Gav didn’t get it. Oh well. I used glitter and that’s what counts. Continue reading “Love Notes”
Odds and Ends
I meant to do a little companion piece to Gav’s account of our diving trip, but never got around to it. We have some people from the boat visiting and travelling around Myanmar at the moment, so it jogged my memory! Continue reading “Odds and Ends”
Hot & Cold
I have been up since 3:20am because I ran the Yangon Half Marathon this morning. Some colleagues from school have run it before and assured me that the timing of the race meant that the weather would be decent, the course route is interesting and it is well supported with drinks stations ever 2.5K. Burmese Days with S&P
The night we got home from diving we met up with Simon and Paula (Gav’s brother and sister in law) to do a little travelling around Myanmar. Continue reading “Burmese Days with S&P”
Yangon Noise
Tuesday evening Gav and I heard our gate doorbell ring and Nell started going crazy. We ventured outside to see what it was, and it was pretty bizarre. It got me thinking about all the different noises in Yangon and how different they are to London noises. Continue reading “Yangon Noise”
The Festivities Continue
It’s my birthday today. We aren’t planning much, just a dinner out tonight. This time of year is always kind of crazy with lots of social things and sometimes planning birthday celebrations just feels like another obligation. Continue reading “The Festivities Continue”
Holiday Prep in the Tropics
Well, I think I was a little flippant last time about my Dengue. After having quite mild symptoms the weekend I was diagnosed, it really hit me the next week and I was pretty miserable. I even missed a whole day of work, which is very rare for me! Continue reading “Holiday Prep in the Tropics”
Oh Dear
That lovely scene above was me on Thursday night, before I found out that I have Dengue Fever. Remember a few months ago when I said I didn’t want to be the second newbie who got it? Continue reading “Oh Dear”
First Houseguest!
Two weeks ago I went into the kitchen on a Sunday evening to pour myself a glass of wine. As I finished pouring I replaced the bottle on the counter and heard a little noise in the corner near the coffee maker. Continue reading “First Houseguest!”
