It has been pretty rainy since we arrived back in Yangon. Much rainier than we remember it being last year. A few times now I have had to wade through water that has overrun the road on my walk home from school. Continue reading “Colonial Yangon”
Back to the Routine
We’ve been back to school now for two and a half weeks. This year is my 20th year working in a school-where has the time gone? That’s us on the first day up there-it was raining which was a shame, but no one made us wear matching grey t-shirts (that showed every drop of sweat) this year! Travel Travails
In my last post, I alluded to some airport turmoil we experienced this summer. I have to preface this by saying all’s well that ends well, and in the end nothing was really traumatic (see the happy family photo above???) but I am happy not to have to go to an airport any time soon. One Year
Today marks one year since we stuffed 4 suitcases into a cab and made our way to Heathrow to fly to Bangkok. It seems impossibly that a year has passed so quickly, but here we are. The photo above was us as we pulled out of our street in Kilburn. Continue reading “One Year”
Wrapping things up
We are down to two weeks of work left before summer vacation! All kinds of things are finishing up for the year. For me, the biggest relief is that I am now officially done coaching swimming. Continue reading “Wrapping things up”
Weddings, spiders and mangoes

Continue reading “Weddings, spiders and mangoes”
Spring Break
We are back from our dive trip! We had a good time and saw some of the beautiful deserted beaches of the Mergui Archipelago. Continue reading “Spring Break”
Thingyan
We are finally on our version of Spring Break! Yesterday was the last day of school and today is the beginning of one of the most important Myanmar holidays-Thingyan. It is the Burmese New Year and is celebrated by throwing water on any and everything. Continue reading “Thingyan”
Slippery Slope
Time seems to be flying at the moment, and we are definitely on the slippery slope to summer vacation. Last night we had our big school gala in a hotel downtown, but I will let Gav tell you all about that as he was one of the main organisers! Continue reading “Slippery Slope”
Hong Kong
Last week I went to Hong Kong for a tech conference with two of my colleagues. Traveling to these conferences is always fun if you enjoy the people you are going with and luckily that was true here. Continue reading “Hong Kong”
